Thomas Edison said “Genius is one per cent inspiration, ninety-nine per cent perspiration.” Sometimes that one percent is hard to come by. I might go for a walk, listen to some new music or just sketch it out. But when I find myself stuck inside or at my desk there are some great to sites that help get those gears moving again. There is no shortage of inspiring sites out there and I have gathered together a few of my favorites here.
1. Google
Google Image Search has become a go to for me. Any topic, I can immediately find a visual representation. Some are great, some not so great, but always surprising.
2. Dribbble
Dribbble is one of the most popular design sites on the internet. Because it is invite only, the community gets involved. It is inspiring to see what other designers are working on, read about their challenges and get feedback from peers. I found that it can be a real incubator process ideas as well.
3. Awwwards
If you want to have your design socks knocked off, check out this site on a regular basis. Best of the best in all categories, from agency sites, to ecommerce to startups and entertainment. These are the big budget projects powered by some talents designers and developers.
I probably learn something new from this blog almost everyday. They feature some great work, resources and advice for designers, developers, freelancers entrepreneurs.
5. FPO
The name of the blog is inspired by the decades-old tradition of labeling images, illustration, and/or text that are not ready to print yet as FPO, “For Placement Only.”
